- Peculiar
adj. strange, bizarre
Upon entering the abandoned house, Kate experienced a peculiar feeling, as if someone was watching her.

- Disparage
v. to belittle or speak down to
A good boss is stern but never disparageshis or her employees.

- Devise
v. to come up with (a plan)
Lana devised a plan to make herself famous.
